Rolland Moore Racquet Complex receives USTA Outstanding Public Facility Award

FORT COLLINS - The City of Fort Collins and Lewis Tennis School, the contracted operator of the facility, were recently honored with a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Outstanding Public Facility Award for Rolland Moore Racquet Complex (RMRC). Through this award, the USTA recognizes facilities that meet higher standards for construction and renovation and serve as models of excellence for other public tennis facilities throughout the country.

The award was based on RMRC's overall layout and design, excellence of court surface and lights, ease of maintenance, player, spectator, and press accommodations, grounds aesthetics, programming offerings that support the USTA and the growth of the game, and other amenities.

Recent renovations at RMRC include a new perimeter drain around the north and east side of the upper six courts, court floor upgrades to the championship and upper six courts, and a new concrete walkway through the facility. In addition, a majority of the fence fabric was replaced.

Larry Lewis and his staff, strong supporters of the USTA, are directly responsible for the recent growth of tennis in the area and for bringing this facility into contention for the award. "This award truly is an honor that should make the tennis community and all the residents in Fort Collins proud. To have Rolland Moore designated as one of the premier tennis facilities in the country demonstrates the cooperation between the City of Fort Collins and the community in supporting the tennis players in the area. I encourage adults and children to come out and enjoy tennis at their award winning tennis facility," Lewis said.

Rolland Moore Racquet Complex will receive a wall plaque to hang inside the facility clubhouse and a large sign, which can be mounted on the outside of the facility. Names of all award winners will be inscribed on a large wall plaque displayed in the lobby of the USTA National Tennis Center, site of the US Open.
